Evan Almighty

If you haven't seen Evan Almighty yet, you should. Not only does Morgan Freeman play a great God, but the message is great, albeit not perfectly Scriptural. Nevertheless, it's cute and family-friendly, and my Evan loved all the animals in it. Besides the message, my favorite part is any scene with Wanda Sykes in it. She's hilarious!

My Candid Kids

This morning, we all headed out into the freezing weather to have our pictures taken by my friend Jeni Zapor, who just started her own photography company, Candid Kids. We didn't last too long, but I'm sure we got some great pictures out of it- Jeni was great! This is one of the photos from the shoot. I can't wait to see the rest!

Day Didn't Go As Planned...

But we all managed to have fun anyway. Evan and Garrett and I had planned to go to the Grand Opening of the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn, but after running errands all morning, we were almost late for our Halloween hayride at Sea Pines. Which, once we pulled into the parking lot, Squeege was adamantly against going on. What did he prefer to do? Play with the choo-choos at Barnes & Noble. Which he was perfectly content on doing for 2 whole hours.

Squeege & His Momma

Squeege's Favorite New Movie

I think it's just because he likes to watch the motorcycles, but he loves this movie! It's really cute, but there are a few cuss words in it, all of which he has already quoted numerous times (especially last night at dinner, where Flounder and Bitterman and Poobs and his Daddy were egging him on). Thankfully this is a cute movie we can all enjoy, because I don't know if I'd be so willing to watch Elmo every day!

My Son is a Sushi-Eating Machine

Last night we met our friends at Hinoki for some yummy-yummy sushi. Evan loves edamame and miso soup, and he even likes tuna carpaccio! But his absolute fave is the hibachi shrimp with extra yummy-yummy sauce. He devoured all of it!!! Look how good he is with his chopsticks! What a stud.
Mark's old buddies Flounder and Bitterman are in town for the week- we love those guys. They are so funny! That's Bitterman sitting by the Squeege.

Garrett was with us at dinner also. He's so laid back- we can take him anywhere and he's totally happy. He hardly ever cries- occasionally he'll squeak when he's hungry or if he's pooping. But otherwise, he's totally zen, all the time. Which is good, because if both of our boys were nutso, I might commit myself to the looney bin.

Garrett had too much to drink...again.

Best Big Bro Ever

Squeege's Fake Laugh

I love Squeege's fake laugh. Almost as much as I love how he finishes all his sentences with the word "poop." And I love that almost as much as I love how he changes everything I say into his own language. For instance, if I say, "Nice to meet you, Brad Pitt." He'd say, "Bice doo deet doo, Dad Bitt...Poop."
Other things I love:
1) He asks if we can listen to Glenn Beck in the morning. And he knows all the commercials from The Bill O'Reilly Radio Factor. "Call 1-877-9-NO-SPIN with Bill O'Reilly. Poop."
2) He announces every poot, every burp...his and those that belong to others. With excitement.
3) He's very proud of his, um...presents he leaves behind in his diaper. And he describes them in detail. He recently started describing Garrett's as well. Adorable.

Go Red Sox!

The boys and I just got home from Wild Wings, where Mark stayed behind to watch Game 1 of the World Series with his buds. Go Red Sox!
Garrett and I got up at around 5:ooam, and it's getting pretty hard for me to keep my eyes open at this point. It's nice to get up early, though. Being able to have a cup of coffee and do a few things on the computer without any distractions is something I don't think I'll ever take for granted again.
I dropped off the boys at Grandma Niecy's this morning so that I could go to Community Bible Study, which I am loving right now. We are studing the book of 1 Peter, which I have never read from beginning to end. Our Teaching Director is Sandi Reed, and she rocks. I love how she seems so real- always relating her struggles to us. She makes sure we know that even our Bible teachers aren't perfect.
It's so nice to have family close by. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have built-in (and eager) babysitters pretty much on-call for me! Meme and Grandma Niecy have been such a huge help to me when I need to do something even as simple as go to the grocery store. Thank God for Grandmas!!!
I have got to get on the ball with Evan. I feel like I'm slacking in the parenting department with him. It almost feels like I'm letting him bully me into doing whatever he wants because I'm too tired to fight with him. But that's not very responsible, is it? I need to make sure it doesn't get to the point of no return. I don't want him to be able to take complete advantage of me and my temporary leniency. But for the moment, I feel like I would do anything to avoid a tantrum.
Speaking of that, they are having a tantrum seminar on Friday at the LifeSpan center. I would really like to go, but we have a playgroup at 10am- maybe I can show up late. I'd really like to know what I could do better to prevent and handle his tantrums, which seem to be happening on a way-too-often basis these days.
I'm not sure if this blog post seems as foggy as I feel, but I can't seem to find enough hours in the day to get everything done. The house is a mess, my car is a trashmobile, and I don't even feel like I have the strength to wash my face before I go to bed. I'm drinking Diet Pepsi Max (the one with extra caffeine), and I can still barely keep my eyes open.
Time to start a new to-do list for tomorrow...

Okay, so I've come to my senses....

Yes, the minivan was nice, and it has a lot of features, but my husband refused to buy it on the grounds of dignity. He's not yet ready to have a wife that drives a minivan, no matter how convenient. And I can see both sides of the argument. While the minivan does have very cool features on the inside, from the outside it is still a minivan. So we dropped it back off at the dealership this afternoon and picked up my Infiniti. And I suddenly feel much cooler. At least while I'm in my car.

I will NEVER drive a minivan!

I used to say that I would never, ever drive a minivan. Now, after seeing the commercials for this car on TV, I decided to take one for a test-drive this weekend. IT HAS EVERYTHING!!! Two rearview mirrors (one to see the cars behind you, one to see what your kids are doing in the back seat), dual DVD players with Satellite TV, Sirius satellite radio, swiveling back seats, dome lights that make the back seat look like a movie theater, 13 cupholders, and all the doors open with the push of a button! They didn't forget anything that a Mom could possibly want or need! But yes, I know, it's still a minivan...but I'm converted. I want one!!!!

They grow up so fast...

Garrett is going to be 6 weeks old on Thursday. He only wakes up once at night. It seems like he's awake more and more every day. He's constantly moving, looking around, checking things out.

Evan is going to be 3 in February. I'm already looking at preschools for him. He's so tall, and such a chatterbox. He's constantly amazing us with the things he says (see 10/22 post of him saying his blessing!).

Every hectic day is so much fun, but we constantly have to remind ourselves to cherish each crazy moment, because before we know it, our boys will be all grown up!

Squeege Says The Blessing

This is so cute- I wish I knew how to better use my video camera so that the quality was a little better!
